DESCRIPTION:https://www.consultexpertise.com/event-73611\n\n\n \nThe Association for Consulting Expertise Presents:\n \n\n\n \nUSM’s Sustainability Solutions Initiative\n The University of Maine recently announced that it is has received a $20 million National Science Foundation EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) grant for its Sustainability Solutions Initiative.  ACE is excited to have Charlie Colgan\, Professor of Economics at the USM Muskie School of Business come speak to us about The Grant and The Initiative\, which is a 5 year project involving U Maine\, USM\, and nine other higher education institutions to investigate how to shape more sustainable landscape use in Maine.  He will also share thoughts and insight on the relationship between this initiative and the "green economy" ideas that are being discussed all around us.\n       Professor Colgan currently holds the Russell Chair in Education and Philosophy at U.S.M. and is a Professor of Public Policy and Management in the Muskie School where he teaches economics\, policy analysis\, economic development\, and courses in analytic methods . He is chair of the Community Planning and Development Program and Associate Director of the U.S.M. Center for Business and Economic Research and the University of Maine System Center for Tourism Research and Outreach. He also currently holds positions as a Research Fellow at the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics and Chief Economist for the National Ocean Economics Program. Dr. Colgan is also Chair of the State of Maine Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission. Prior to coming to USM\, he served 12 years in the Maine State Planning Office\, including positions as Maine State Economist and Special Assistant to the Governor for International Trade. \nThe A.C.E.
