The Importance of the Right Culture
in any

Business, Organization, or Corporation

  • What is organizational culture ?
  • How can the right culture be a significant competitive advantage?
  • How do you deliberately create the best culture for your organization or business ?
  • As a consultant, how do you go about helping a client create the best culture for them?

If  addressing these questions is of interest to you,  you won’t want to miss this Association for Consulting Expertise program, featuring Derek Volk, of Volk Packaging Corporation.

Derek believes that a strong and deliberately developed organizational culture is one of the keys to high performance, sustainability and to serving employees, customers and community well.  During the November ACE program meeting Derek will share his experiences with the importance of business/organization culture and how it is just as important as traditional measures of business success.  This is intended to be an interactive session/discussion engaging meeting attendees to share their experiences on this topic.

Our Speaker:

Derek Volk is president and co-owner of Volk Packaging Corporation, a third generation family owned and operated corrugated box manufacturer in Biddeford, Maine.  Derek is a Maine businessman, author, radio personality, volunteer and philanthropist who, along with his family, was named the 2015 Spurwink “Humanitarian of the Year.”

Derek takes great pride in his corporate culture and is determined to show the world that the word corporate doesn’t have to be a negative.  The company, and the Volk family, has amazing relationships with their employees and a significant social media presence, especially for a manufacturer.  You can find them at or on Facebook at

Volk Packaging has been a "Family-Owned Maine Business of the Year" and recognized by Mainebiz as one of the "Best Places to Work in Maine" (#16 overall and #1 in manufacturing) and received numerous other awards.

The Roundtable runs from about 9:45 to 10:30 and is optional. This is usually a skill-building session facilitated by a member(s).

Using Your Voice to Project Your Message

This will be a participatory session. Warm-ups and stretches, vocal warm-ups will be done to engage and focus. All will have the opportunity to speak and read in front of the group, be coached, get feedback from the group and share reactions.

Our facilitator:

Kathleen Grammer has over thirty-five years of experience as a voice instructor and vocal coach. She has coached professional business people, educators, and clergy in presentation, diction, and articulation. In addition, she has presented at national conferences and worked with choirs and choruses and their directors to provide a platform of healthy vocal technique.
