“Life Your Way”

Presenter:  Dr. Amy Wood, Psy.D.

As a consultant, you are in the challenging position of enhancing others through teaching and by your own example.  The bigger challenge is staying on top of success strategies when advice on how to be healthier and happier bombards us from every direction.  This interactive presentation is designed to update consultants on effective personal and professional improvement approaches so that they can thrive in our stressful world and better influence others to do the same.  You’ll cut through all the hype -- reinvent yourself by Friday!  Transform your life/body/health in three easy steps! – and learn sustainable self-improvement solutions that actually work.

Participants will:

  1. Appreciate the need for a new, more effective approach to the problem facing most of us: overwhelming options and demands, particularly in the areas of personal and professional improvement.
  2. Learn five mistakes most of us make when trying to simplify life, reduce stress and better ourselves, so you can recognize these mistakes in yourself and those you lead and impact change for the better.
  3. Adopt ten proven and sustainable principles for living and working well.
  4. Learn how to recognize personal improvement hype so that you are no longer unduly distracted and misled by empty opportunities and baseless advice.

Through speaking, training, consulting, and one-on-one sessions, psychologist Amy Wood has helped countless adults from all walks of life and work to articulate and accomplish their own versions of success.  Known for her pragmatic optimism, she believes that every human being is a unique and valuable individual with the inner resources necessary to overcome any challenge.  Dr. Wood earned her doctorate from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, is certified by the College of Executive Coaching, and is based in Portland, Maine.

Dr. Wood is the author of  Life Your Way: Refresh Your Approach to Success and Breathe Easier in a Fast-paced World, an award-winning personal improvement book that surpasses quick-fix self-help rhetoric with a sustainable program for adapting to our perpetually hectic age.   She is a co-founder of sPeakperformance, an organization offering presentations, coaching, and consulting for professional development.  She co-hosts The Leadership Lab radio show, and is often called on for her expert opinion by media ranging from local newspapers to Parade Magazine.   To learn more about Dr. Wood, visit her websites at http://amywoodpsyd.com and http://speakperformance.net

Roundtable

Takes place from 9:45-10:30 following the regular meeting and is optional.

“Temperament and the Consultant”

A lighthearted and interactive session to help participants discover their temperament on nine temperament scales: agreeableness, dependability, emotional stability, extroversion, work drive, impression management, integrity & values, managerial style, and teamwork orientation.

Each individual will then have a chance to compare their scales to the overall team composite scales, for a lively discussion of the role that temperament plays in the consulting process.

Facilitated by: Bill Stone, author of Chaos, Creativity, and Careers, a career manual for applying chaos theory to career decision making, and also Career Exploration System: A curriculum designed to assist individuals with career exploration, planning, and decision making.

William Stone, Ed.D, NCCC, of Promising Futures, has focused his career on helping others maximize their potential through the hiring, coaching, and decision making process.
